This was my first release on Mortville. I had previously released a handful of Captain Three Leg demos and two compilation tapes and decided that I was ready to take on something bigger.
I was very lucky in that both bands agreed to do the record with me and things worked out exactly as I planned. With future releases, sometimes a band would agree to do a record with me, then back out for some reason or other. There were several bands I wrote to in hopes of releasing something and I never got a response. For this first release I got my first choices.
When I asked WARSORE to do this 7", they had only released a couple of things. I thought I was one of the first to ask them to release vinyl, but as it turned out they had other commitments and released three other split 7"s between my proposal and this release. NEE!'s untitled 31 song demo was one of the best things I heard that year. Unfortunately, these 11 songs on this 7" aren't nearly as good. Even they didn't think so and later questioned why I didn't ask for better material.
Using the YACOPSAE / VASELINE - split 7" as a model (I consider it not only to be a perfect record, but an interesting record to look at), I decided to print the covers with vibrant blue ink instead of doing a black + white cover. 1000 copies were pressed on gold vinyl, all covers were hand numbered. Released in 1997, all 1000 copies sold out in less than a year.
